riflessi d’alta quota

The metallic sheen, known as “lustre,” is the technique that, along with glazes, made the Bottega Gatti famous.

Lustre ceramics adorned bell towers and minarets so they could be seen from great distances. The lustre and the ropes used in mountaineering and sailing shout their presence because they must be immediately visible and recognizable in all weather conditions.

The simulation of metal and the vanity of mountaineering ropes are connected to all of this.

From the Bottega’s archive, I selected vases and centerpieces from the early 20th century whose shapes, combined with the ropes, evoke an Art Nouveau aesthetic, creating a stylistic displacement and an illusionistic syntax.
